Jennings is a journalist, documentary producer, podcaster, and founder of the production company Nocturne Media.

According to SFGate, Jennings “is an extrovert, with light blue eyes and a just-barely-there Texas twang.” According to the Conspirituality podcast, he “is a bright light in an increasingly chaotic cult-content economy” and his investigative podcast The Gateway about spiritual leader Teal Swan, “sets a high-watermark standard for research, fairness, and sensitivity.”

The Gateway inspired the docuseries The Deep End, for which Jennings served as development executive producer. Next, Jennings produced Revelations, with Blumhouse and Spotify. The podcast follows his three years of reporting on sex abuse and trafficking within the Fellowship of Friends, an elite spiritual group that infiltrated Google.

As a senior reporter at Gizmodo, Jennings reported on cybersecurity, AI, Big Tech, politics, and national security. Jennings worked with whistleblowers who revealed how the Jehovah’s Witness Church mishandled allegations of sexual abuse, and he exposed a fraudster and fake sex doctor who conned major outlets and scientific journals into publicizing his bogus and dangerous studies on necrophilia, zoophilia, and sexual assault.

For his article “The Last of the Iron Lungs,” Jennings tracked down and met all the last living polio survivors in the US who still rely on iron lungs. The story shed light on iron lung users’ struggle to find antique parts and maintain their machines because Philips, the company responsible for iron lung machines, failed to provide repairs. As Wired reported, the article inspired the maker community to rally to make replacement parts for these machines. Ultimately, Philips bowed to public pressure and offered to provide support for iron lung users. Jennings produced a short documentary to accompany the article, which has been viewed on YouTube 43 million times and has been used in health and science classes across the US, to teach students about the polio epidemic.

Jennings previously worked as an editor at Esquire and Popular Mechanics.

He is a New York State-certified rape crisis counselor and a volunteer ER rape crisis advocate.
